Well, this is a little late, but my team launched the new version of Quest Community Church Site this past Wednesday. I unfortunately had to be out of town for it and missed the official announcement, but I’ve gotten to run into plenty of people with positive feedback—which is always a nice thing to have your expectations confirmed through non-web-savvy people. Read more about the project after the jump..
Anyway, the site is a complete overhaul of an old PHP beast. It’s been converted to Radiant (Ruby on Rails CMS), a completely new MySQL database structure (and interface), and is smattered with javascript smoothness and custom-tailored functionality for our specific campus.
All in all, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how versatile it has become through the whole transition. Just today, I updated the podcast-which used to be a 20-30 minute ordeal with corrections and testing-in about 1 minute. Little things like those that most people don’t see make me happy. It’s working behind the scenes and optimizing that experience that makes me so happy for our teams that use it on an almost daily basis. And in honor of everyone’s hard work, I’m having a little celebration coming up this Tuesday for my team. They really surprised me with their dedication to the project, eagerness to put in long hours, push through code barriers, and just overall own it as their own. Way to go guys (and gals)!
So, I’ll be updating the site with new screens soon. For now, you can always see the new site at: www.questcommunity.com
